Toasty, cinnamon goodness warmed and crisped to perfection…sound familiar? None other than the churro itself, this delicious dessert treat does not disappoint and takes me back to my childhood days when I oftentimes enjoyed a churro (or 5) at the state fairgrounds each year.

I am all for treats in moderation, but I knew that there had to be a way that I could make this treat into something special and when I say special, I mean something that is a bit more appealing in macros. And BOOM! AirFried Churros suddenly came to life on a gloomy Sunday afternoon in my quaint little kitchen.

I knew from the moment I tasted the finished product, that I had to share this one. High in protein, made with minimal ingredients and packed full of rich cinnamon flavor that won’t disappoint your taste buds, this treat is easy to make and can be ready is a matter of minutes. Grab your airfryer, the simple ingredients below, and get to town. You are in for quite the treat!

High in protein, made with minimal ingredients and packed full of rich cinnamon flavor that won’t disappoint your taste buds, this treat is easy to make and can be ready is a matter of minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1 Joseph’s Lavash Flatbread (can sub with regular lavash bread or traditional
  • store bought wraps as well)
  • 3oz Dannon Two Good Vanilla Greek Yogurt (any vanilla based greek yogurt
  • will do)
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (split into two equal parts)
  • 1 tbsp of granulated stevia or sweetener of choice
  • ½ scoop of protein powder (I like using a vanilla based protein powder)
  • Cooking Spray

Instructions

Cut lavash bread into 6 equal parts. In a small bowl, mix greek yogurt with ¼ tsp
of ground cinnamon. Spread a thin layer of the yogurt mixture on each cut up
lavash bread piece. Roll each piece up. Combine the remaining ¼ tsp of ground
cinnamon and 1 tbsp of granulated stevia (or sweetener of choice) in a bowl.
Spray a very light coat of cooking spray (just enough to allow the cinnamon
stevia mixture to stick) on each lavash bread piece and coat in the cinnamon
stevia mixture. Place each piece into the airfryer and airfry at 370 degrees for 5
mins (or until slightly golden). If you prefer slightly crispier churros, airfry for a
bit longer. While the churros are in the airfryer, combine ½ scoop of protein
powder with water until a consistency that can easily be drizzled, takes place (add
water to the protein powder very gradually, so that the mixture doesn’t become
too liquidy). Drizzle the protein drizzle on top of each airfryed churro and enjoy!

Notes

  • Note the substitutions above as some of the specific ingredients above are
    suggestions.
  • This recipe is very versatile as you can change the flavor profile of the
filling by experimenting with different greek yogurt flavors.
  • You can also change the flavor profile a bit by experimenting with different
protein powder flavors for the protein drizzle.
  • The protein drizzle is optional and you can choose to substitute a different
and/or additional topping if you so choose.
